Women’s Walking Football

Physical and mental fitness for women, 35 and over

Get into football and benefit from physical and mental fitness and make some new friends to boot!

Walking football is a growing sport for both men and women. It offers a multitude of health benefits to older people such as reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke while improving blood pressure, resting heart rate and lowered cholesterol – all indicators of general good health.

Thanks to funding from Involve Kent, we are able to provide a pilot programme to introduce women, in and around Maidstone to Walking football. A more gentle but no less competitive form of the game.

We hope that this programme will be successful and be the foundation leading to the growth of a permanent women’s walking football programme within SITC.

International Women’s Day is on Sat 8 March and Kent FA are holding a Women’s Walking Football festival. Our hope is that we may be able to enter a team into this festival from this programme.

This programme is free to attend with session taking place every Friday, 19:00 – 20:00 from 17 Jan – 28 Mar 2025. There is plenty of free parking available.

Are you passionate about helping your community?

We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. People who volunteer often report better physical health than nonvolunteers and research has also shown that volunteering leads to lower rates of depression and anxiety.
We’ll help you find a way to volunteer that best suits you and would be excited to have you join our team.
